The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is requiring all states to issue a new lottery system for EMV-enabled credit cards.
EMV is the new technology that will be used for the new cards.
The new system will require states to offer a new, one-time-use chip to applicants.
EMVs can be used at any time.
You won’t have to worry about losing your card if you accidentally use it while shopping or traveling.
States that want to implement this new system must do so on a first-come, first-served basis.
The lottery is expected to take effect in April.
